Epochs
What is an Epoch?
An epoch is a specific time period in which an animal’s APR doubles. Unlike some games where rewards are given out after each epoch, in BUTCH the animal’s potential rewards grow larger as the APR keeps doubling with every new epoch. But you don’t actually get the rewards until you decide to slaughter your animal.
Each animal has a different epoch length:
Chicken: 12-hour epoch (its APR doubles twice a day).
Cow: 8-hour epoch (its APR doubles three times a day).
Moo-deng: 6-hour epoch (its APR doubles four times a day).
How Do Epochs Work?
With each epoch, your animal’s APR doubles, meaning the longer you hold the animal, the bigger its potential rewards.
You can’t claim any rewards during the epochs. You must hold the animal, watching the APR grow with each cycle, and decide when you want to cash out by slaughtering it.
Why Does It Matter?
Epochs are critical because they define the growth of your rewards. The longer you hold an animal without slaughtering it, the bigger the APR becomes. However, this also increases your risk, as holding out for more APR could mean losing out if market conditions change or if you slaughter too late.
